La Valencia Review: Restaurant and Bar Staff This summer I stayed at La Valencia for three months. Prior to that I have been a frequent guest. I am providing my feedback on this pink beauty in parts. This first review looks at the customer service for the food and beverage. Beverages are managed by Nich Angelos, who bounces around the property, helping his employees and guests alike, in any way he can. I am particularly impressed to see a manager on the front lines with his staff. He has a can-do personality and never leaves his home without a smile. On more than one occasion he kept the restaurant open late when customers came in around closing. His cocktail repertoire is perhaps the most creative I have encountered. Sara Restina, the chef, bounces around just like Nich, asking her guests if the meal is to their liking and handling whatever guest issues may come up. When my daughter was sick, in bed, Sara offered to make her chicken noodle soup – off the menu and from scratch. The staff that Sara and Nich manage are top-notch. Nothing but excellent customer service at La Valencia food and wine department. Here are some of the staff both Nich and Sara manage: Flora, a smiley Spanish lady, whose accent is cute as a button; Heath, who saw my phone had been charging on the floor and pulled up a chair, close to the wall, so my iPhone didn’t have to be on the ground; Mina, who went from a greeter to a waitress, wherever they need her; McKenzie, who cares so much about your experience she might as well sit with you at the table. Lisa, who can lighten up your day with her wit; Kiko, a bartender who has heard it all. It seems as though his focus is to advance humanity rather than simply make money. He can craft you a pink lady that can get you to dream about just that – a pink lady; Johan, a true “maverick”, soon after I moved in at La Valencia, I let him order both my meal and my drink. There’s also no dull moment with Johan. He can carry on any conversation, i.e. he is highly intellectual. Let me not forget “Toro” (that’s his nickname), an older gentleman who can carry plates up and down the stairs as if he worked at Ringling Brothers. The room service is just as awesome. Clever runs around room to room at such speeds the hotel needed to replace their carpets due to room service traffic. In short, one awesome group of people, when it comes to customer service. Your money will be well-spent at their restaurant and bars.
