How Close Can I Get To The Animals At The Zoo?

Visit the Petting Paddock in the Children’s Zoo, where kids can pet the animals, comb the sheep's fur, or feed the goats. Head to the Animals in Action program and join the Inside Look Tour to meet exotic animals. The Safari Park offers an interactive Animal Encounters program with face-to-face contact with the local tenants, the cheetahs, alligators, and other rare animals.

Can We Bring Our Own Food To The San Diego Zoo?

Yes, you may bring personal food items inside the zoo, however, coolers are not permitted, and there are no food storage areas. Picnic areas are located just outside the main gates of the zoo and they do allow re-entry. They do ask that nobody feeds the animals personal food or bring glass inside the park.
