A favorite with La Jolla locals, the Whaling Bar & Grill opened in the early
1950's and immediately became, then as now, the premier pub and meeting place.
The feeling of an old-world seaside pub consumes the bar, with the décor consisting
of dark red leather banquettes, a mahogany bar and paneling, unique harpoons, lanterns,
pewter candleholders and antique wooden shutters.
The menu includes traditional Continental Cuisine with a Southern California twist,
with many items being prepared tableside. The house specialty drink is The Whaler, a
creamy concoction whose ingredients are a closely guarded secret.

Lunch: 11:30am-3pm
Dinner: 5pm-10pm
Tapas: 3pm-10pm
Bar Hours: 10am-12am (Sunday-Thursday) 10am-1:30am (Friday and Saturday)
